Oxygen Scavengers

Newman Zone OS

Oxygen scavenger for anaerobic bioremediation

Newman Zone OS is a blend of food grade antioxidants, chelated ferrous iron catalyst, and buffering agents used to prepare water for anaerobic injections. It rapidly removes dissolved oxygen and creates the reducing conditions required for effective anaerobic bioremediation.

By eliminating dissolved oxygen, Newman Zone OS supports bioaugmentation cultures such as SDC-9 and KB-1 by allowing anaerobic bacteria to establish and grow under favorable conditions.

Newman Zone OS remediation product

Why Newman Zone OS

Successful anaerobic bioremediation depends on establishing and maintaining reducing conditions. Dissolved oxygen in injection water can inhibit microbial activity and reduce treatment effectiveness.

Newman Zone OS provides a fast and reliable method to remove dissolved oxygen prior to injection, helping ensure that injected water supports anaerobic processes rather than disrupting them.

Dissolved Oxygen removal chart

Rapid Oxygen Removal

Quickly removes dissolved oxygen, creating anoxic water typically within one hour.

Supports Bioaugmentation

Improves performance of anaerobic cultures by establishing reducing conditions prior to injection.

Works in Challenging Conditions

Effective in cold and highly oxidized water where oxygen removal is more difficult.

Simple Tank Addition

Pre-measured product added directly to tanks with minimal mixing requirements.

Technical Details

How it Works

1. Scavenges Dissolved Oxygen
Antioxidants and chelated ferrous iron react with dissolved oxygen, rapidly reducing oxygen concentrations in water.

2. Creates Reducing Conditions
Oxygen removal lowers ORP, producing anoxic water suitable for anaerobic microbial activity.

3. Supports Biological Activity
The formulation supports bioaugmentation cultures and provides a small, readily available electron donor as components degrade.

Application & Handling

  • Added to tanks prior to filling with water
  • Mixing with pumps or mixers recommended until fully dissolved
  • Typically produces anoxic water within one hour
Negative ORP achieved within approximately two hours
